Skate Lessons Chicago offers once-a-week skateboarding K.L.A.S.S at various park districts, including Palatine, Glen Ellyn, Roselle, Westmont. Programs are offered spring, summer and fall. These lessons focus on safety, confidence, and skill progression in a structured environment.
In the first lessons at K.L.A.S.S. We kick off by taking attendance and examining the equipment. We discuss our approach to inclement weather with parents & any other questions. Then, we dive into the basics of skateboarding, covering pushing, standing, and navigating down banked ramps. Additionally, we introduce three beginner tricks
During the second week , we recap what was learned in the previous class, placing more emphasis on independently navigating down ramps. By the end of this session, nearly everyone should feel comfortable cruising down ramps solo. Those who grasp the concepts quicker might even attempt taller or steeper ramps with guidance. Furthermore, we expand our repertoire with a few more tricks.
Moving on to week 3, after a quick review, students embark on learning to drop in on quarter pipes. This step can be challenging; while some may take to it naturally, others may approach it with more caution. Nonetheless, with commitment and practice, many will achieve success by the end of the fourth week. Day 3 also offers more free time for students to practice, socialize, and explore the park with their newfound skills.
We start the day with a brief review before diving into further practice with dropping in from quarter pipes, providing ongoing instruction and support. While not practicing dropping in, students have the opportunity to refine any skills they've learned and seek assistance where needed. Our goal by the end of K.L.A.S.S. is to ensure everyone has a solid foundation to pursue skateboarding in any capacity they desire.
